About Us
Ghent Area Ministry (GAM) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization serving Norfolk’s marginalized, transitional, low-income and homeless residents.
Located in the heart of Ghent, our mission is to provide compassionate assistance through partnerships with faith communities and volunteers.
In August 2000, 15 churches in the Ghent neighborhood united to form Ghent Area Ministry. Recognizing a shared responsibility to serve Norfolk’s vulnerable population, these churches pooled resources to provide centralized, professional assistance. Today, with the continued support of 19 faith communities, GAM remains a trusted resource for meeting basic needs.
