From Farm to Table  Ghent Area Ministries transforms the Foodbank's locally grown fresh corn in a delicious meal for those in need.
A Note from the Food Bank of Southeast Virginia:
We were so thankful for the bountiful corn harvest this year! Partner Agency, Ghent Area Ministries utilized the fresh sweet corn to make Corn Ham Chowder. Combining the fresh corn and potatoes from the Marketplace on Friday, they were able to make 29 quarts of Ham, Corn & Potato Chowder, which will go to single parents/low-income families in their community. Their goal is to provide families in need with healthy, ready-made, nutritious meals.Thank you to Ghent Area Ministries and to all agencies that quickly distributed fresh sweet corn into the community!
Produce grown from Izzie's field supports the Foodbank's hunger relief efforts throughout its service area. Local, minority farmer, Elijiah Barnes oversees the farm throughout the growing season. This cooperative effort supports local minority farmers as well as provides neighbors fresh, locally grown produce.
